AMNESTY
After my last posting, I got a reply from Amnesty
for the first time in TEN YEARS ...
I've sent dozens of messages to 3 different addresses,
in 3 different languages over the years and by 3 different routes [fax, post and email]
without a single reply or even a confirmation of receipt.
Now I get this message stating that my case falls outside the limited scope of Amnesty
Here is een brief extract from a publication of Amnesty itself :
Whom does Amnesty International regard as a prisoner ?
Many people are persecuted in ways that do not involve
imprisonment or similar physical restrictions.
They may be fired from their jobs, have their telephones cut off,
or correspondence intercepted, be summoned for frequent police
questioning or be threatened with other reprisals.
Amnesty concentrates on people who have been jailed or
otherwise forcibly restricted ; people in prison, people in official
detection centres, people under strict house arrest or confined
to a village, or others whose freedom of movement has been so
severely restricted as to amount to a form of detention.
