If I had spent that money on a computer straight away,
I would have found out no later than 2000 everything I

university but even the same department where these
fraudulent practices took place in the 1990s which
also continued unchallenged by anybody until they
were finally ended just before this abomination began :

Hendrickx werd in 1991 veroordeeld voor laster en valsheid in geschrifte.
De basis van het strafrechtelijk onderzoek werd gelegd door een serie
diepgravende artikelen van het Belgisch weekblad Knack.
Hij verschafte een 35 jaar jongere studente diploma's zonder dat zij daarvoor
examens had afgelegd, schoof haar geld toe, en beschuldigde haar nieuwe
liefde van drugshandel toen zij niet langer van zijn attenties was gediend.
Hij nam zelf ontslag als hoogleraar, onder grote druk van het bestuur van Ugent.

In 1995 werd Hendrickx nog een keer veroordeeld,
nu tot een voorwaardelijke gevangenisstraf van 1 jaar en een boete van 400 euro.
Hij had zich schuldig gemaakt aan frauduleuze praktijken die de Universiteit Gent,
het Universitair Ziekenhuis en verschillende ziekenfondsen miljoenen hebben gekost.
Hendrickx vervalste data van laboratorium-analyses om een terugbetaling door het
RIZIV te kunnen verkrijgen, en liet zich betalen voor wachtdiensten die hij nooit deed.
Hendrickx moest een schadevergoeding van bijna 250.000 euro betalen
aan de universiteit en het ziekenhuis.

Bekend werd Hendricks door zijn vaak herhaalde claim dat Angola
chemische wapens gebruikte tegen de door de CIA en Zuid Afrika
gesteunde rebellen, de Unita van Savimbi.
Het bewijs voor zijn claims was ook hier stelselmatig krakkemikkig en
werd door vrijwel niemand in de wetenschappelijke wereld serieus genomen.
Hendrickx reizen naar Angola werden gefinancierd door Savimbi en waren
een onderdeel van de propaganda-machine die de democratisch gekozen
regering moest ondermijnen.
Op het moment dat Cuba zich met de ineenstorting van het Sovjet rijk
terugtrok uit de regio, zag Unita de steun van de Amerikanen in gevaar komen.

Wie ook gebaat was met de aanwijzingen voor chemische oorlogsvoering,
was Wouter Basson.
De leider van het Zuidafrikaanse CBW-programma [bijnaam Dr. Death]
kon altijd meer geld gebruiken voor zijn chemische experimenten
die [met name] zwarten moesten uitschakelen.
Onderzoek van de Waarheidscommissie wees uit dat de rechtvaardiging
voor Project Coast en andere projecten van Basson,
potentiële dreiging van chemische aanvallen op Zuid Afrika,
uitsluitend waren gebaseerd op claims van Hendrickx.
Het strafrechtelijke proces tegen Wouter Basson bracht aan het licht hoe
Hendrickx vage handel dreef met de Zuidafrikanen.
Hij leverde hen apparatuur van de Universiteit waarmee chemische
wapens opgespoord konden worden.
Hij liet facturen vervalsen, beweerde in België dat de apparatuur ondeugdelijk
en dus vernietigd was en incasseerde vervolgens zelf de opbrengst.
